While it may seem the BMW offers the most power when you match the entry-level Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 4MATIC® vs. BMW X5 xDrive40i, the GLE lineup outpaces the X5 as you move up the lineup. Top-tier GLE models are more powerful, with the GLE 450 4MATIC® creating 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque with its 3.0L inline-6 turbo engine.  What’s more, the GLE is also smoother on Waukee roads, thanks to its 9G-TRONIC® 9-speed automatic transmission. The 8-speed automatic transmission inside the BMW X5 can’t keep up.
