What is Mercedes-Benz DISTRONIC PLUS®?

Mercedes-Benz DISTRONIC PLUS® is a driver assistance feature making for more seamless drives throughout Urbandale. This innovative technology combines speed regulation and proximity sensing to maintain a safe distance from other vehicles whether you’re cruising on the highway or in stop-and-go Des Moines traffic. Using Mercedes-Benz DISTRONIC PLUS®

You can opt to see DISTRONIC PLUS® assistance graphics on your driver display in your Mercedes-Benz GLS or other Mercedes-Benz model. To do so, follow these steps:

• Use the controls on your steering wheel to toggle over and select “Drive Assistance” on the instrument cluster
• Select the “Assistance Graphic” from the subsequent menu options
• The assistance graphic should now be shown in your display
• Now, when a DISTRONIC PLUS® detects a vehicle traveling ahead of you, its speed and distance ahead are also displayed
• A highlighted segment on the speedometer represents the area between the speed of the vehicle in front and your saved cruising speed

How Mercedes-Benz DISTRONIC PLUS® Works

As you approach the vehicle in front of you, DISTRONIC PLUS® will automatically reduce your speed to maintain a set and safe distance from it. You can also manually adjust the distance of the vehicle in front by turning the control lever on the left of your steering column. Here is what you should know about how DISTRONIC PLUS® functions:

• DISTRONIC PLUS® will brake on your behalf with up to 40% of your vehicle’s maximum braking power.
• If the Waukee roads or traffic conditions require stronger manual braking, the system will give you a warning.
• In this case, manually brake to avoid a collision
• Remember that DISTRONIC PLUS® is an aid, and you are always responsible for speed, braking, and maintaining a safe distance.
• If you have DISTRONIC PLUS® with Steering Assist, your vehicle can also prevent you from drifting outside of your lane.
